Upcoming Visit
« on: February 06, 2009, 09:35:38 am »

My wife and I coming to visit New Hampshire from Thursday, February 12th through Sunday, February 15th and will be staying in Londonderry. This will be our first trip to NH and we were seeking any recommendations as to where to go and what to see with the little bit of time we have. We are planning on stopping my Murphy's Taproom during our visit; it is my understanding that the owner is from Maryland. This will hopefully be the first of many trips prior to us moving in 3 to 4 years.

Welcome,

I think on Saturday at noon there is a Concord Porc Meeting (in Concord of course) that you may want to go to.  There are often Sunday meetings on the SeaCoast (I think)
Yes stop and Murphy's.. If you post around here and other places people might make a night of it on Friday to welcome you.
If you are political you might want to stop by the state house on the 13th if you are in early enough.

If you are looking for 'places' to settle... you might just want to 'drive' around to see what area strikes you the best. or focus on one area each trip.

Come back up in March (www.freestateproject.org/libertyforum)

What sort of things are you interested in seeing or doing?  We have shooting ranges, wineries, ski resorts, hiking, nightlife, mountains, lakes, seacoast, etc. etc. etc.

Yup.  At the Red Apple Buffet, on Loudon Road in Concord.  $10 (including tax and a reasonable tip) per person for all-you-can-eat Chinese, Japanese, American, and Italian food.  Nothing fancy, but it's cheap and they can handle crowds.  It's a popular place with the cops, which actually ends up being quite amusing, given how much better-armed our groups tend to be, compared to them...

I believe there's an unofficial "regular" Friday night liberty gathering in Manchester at a personal residence.  PM me if you're interested in more details.  I think a MD'er is involved.

The Concord Porc meeting sounds great. Part of the goal of this trip is to hopefully meet up with a few people and make a few friends. Stopping by the state house on Friday sounds good to me, but I don't think my wife would be too interested. If anybody is interested, we would love to meet up with a few people at Murphy's on Friday evening, just drop me a note.

As far as the Liberty Forum goes, I would love to be able to come back up for that, but I play in the local community band here and that is the weekend of our benefit concert; we are holding the concert to start a scholarship in the name of a former high school band director and former member of the band. Hopefully I will be able to next year, but I am planning to make it back up for Porcfest.

Welcome to New Hampshire.  You’re gonna love it up here.  3 decades in the Peoples Republic of Maryland was enough for me.  Again, welcome!  This coming weekend has all sorts of gatherings going on in Manchester.  Are you on Facebook?  Makes everything easier.  Friday, Kevin is having a Firefly night on his huge television.  Saturday, Matt and I are having a party.  The unofficial "regular" Friday night thing got bumped to Saturday this weekend.  Good times.  Sunday is Rich’s welcome to NH party.  All 3 will be good times.  Lots of Porcs.  Murphys Is a good time on Tuesdays.
On Facebook, I’m listed under my full name: Erik D. Freeman or you can reach me @ efreem2@alumni.umbc.edu

Hi Svanhart!

This Saturday evening at 7pm there is going to be a big party of porcupines over at Ivy's Spice of Life.  Some folks will be coming up from the Concord meeting, so you may be able to follow someone or get directions.
It's a BYOB restaurant, and we're having a fixed price dinner that night.  $13/head.
Main dish choice of Brisket, Chicken with Mole Sauce, or Baked Stuffed Zucchini (for the vegetarians among us).
Soup choice of Reverend's Hellfire Chili, Ivy's Northern Chili, or Tortilla Soup.
Vegetable choice of Calabacita, Corn on the Cob, or small salad.
Dinner comes with sides of Mexican Rice and Beans.
Mark Warden is treating for dessert which will be frosted cupcakes for all.

There's going to be some games and things going on too that Mark and Cynthia are planning.  (I think a "Newlyweds" type of game or "The Dating Game" type of thing.)  I'm sure you and your wife will have fun!

You should come and meet some folks!

Thanks for the invite, sounds like a good time, my wife and I may take you up on it. We have also been invited to a gathering later in the evening, so we will have to figure out if it is possible for us to make both or just one. Are you planning on being at the Concord Porc meeting on Saturday?

You're welcome!  No I wont be at the Concord Porcs meeting; my line cook asked for the day of so he can take his wife somewhere romantical Smiley aww, so I'm working all day at the restaurant.  But I'm sure others will be (like maybe Mark Warden - taxinator) who can give you more info on the party.  (It was his idea anyway, I'm just hosting Smiley )  Hope to see you then!!

Well it doesn't look like my wife and I will make the Concord Porc meeting either. She wants to go see the coast tomorrow and I doubt we will make it back in time. But, we are planning to make it to the party at Saturday evening.

I wanted to thank you for the invite, but I don't think my wife and I will be able to make it tonight. We just got back to our hotel room after being on the road all day, we are quite tired and we have an 8-hour drive tomorrow going home. We are going to try and make it back up for Porc Fest, so hopefully we will get a chance to meet-up then.
