Can we get 100 for 100?
« on: March 21, 2007, 06:27:18 pm »

I've helped out with the Free State Project, and now I'm asking you to help me! I signed up to Cary March's "$50 for 6 Months," and Ian Bernard's "First 1000" pledges. And now it's my turn to come to you, hat in hand. I'm looking for 100 people who will donate a mere $100 to the Ron Paul campaign for US President. Join me and help us make history!

For more information, please visit:

Thank you,
Jon Isaac

Please feel free to post this to other liberty-minded blogs.

Not me.  Not a chance.

But, I'll donate money to libertarians running for state and local offices as libertarians in New Hampshire.

Check out the NHLA and freekeene.com  (they want a full slate to run in the next election in Keene)

Is there "not a chance" that you'd donate to a national candidate (prefer to concentrate your efforts locally), or not a chance that you'd donate to someone not on the Libertarian ticket?

IMO Ron Paul is a great (libertarian) voice for liberty.  I'd like that voice to be heard, even if he's not going to win -- and the deck is definitely stacked against him.  So Jon, I joined your pledge.  Smiley

I want to focus on New Hampshire.  Imagine if Ron Paul put all that money and effort into running for Governor of New Hampshire.

But yes, I'll only donate to people running as Libertarians in New Hampshire at this point. I'm tired of the One Party System.  Here in Mass., if you're not a Democrat you're a second class citizen, at best.  One party political systems are no good for anyone but the people already in power.  It really makes me nervous to see libertarians voting for Democrats in New Hampshire - that practice is a big part of how things got so bad in Mass.

laney, party labels don't much matter when you're running for state rep in NH. It's a matter of what letter is next to your name, but I would vote for someone like Ron Paul whether he has an R, D, or L next to his name. Ron Paul is a better libertarian than Bob Barr, even though he is running as a Republican. It's not a matter of labels, that is what keeps us locked in this system. It's about the principles of the candidate. I don't trust 99% of major party candidates, but when the candidate in question has run with the LP before, and has a voting record to back it up.

I vote for the libertarian candidate almost every time I have the choice. But when you have a tried and true libertarian running as a republican, things are a little different.

Are there yard signs for Ron Paul out there yet?

FYI I'm chairing the Cheshire County LP. We're trying to get something going, so if you're moving here, lemmie know.

Let's face it, Ron Paul likely won't win the primary, but if he can get to the number 3 or number 2 Repub in the race, then Libertarian ideas will get attention during the primary. We usually don't have that chance.
Plus the way the Republican field is looking this year, I feel like we need to at least try to get someone like Ron Paul the nomination. Otherwise most Americans will have to choose between Rudy and Hillary. That's a scary thought.

The will be probably be ready on 4/7/07 and be available at the MVP meeting.  If you aren't going to be there get someone from the Keene area to pick one or two (or more) up for you.

That's not much of a choice.
