Split costs?
« on: February 08, 2007, 02:13:15 am »

Is anyone willing to share a camp site? Maybe a few of us can share a cabin to keep the cost down. It seems we'll be paying more than we did in Lancaster. I am one mellow male porcupine.

There are 2 tiny cabins available at Gunstock and someone might have already nabbed um.

We don't need 20K... we just need you to move now.

1) Gunstock itself has only 2 _small_ cabins, which have already been reserved, I think.
There are plenty of nearby rooms, and a page will be up shortly (or already is) listing many places to stay.

2) Camping rates are comparable to Roger's, so not sure where you got that from... Roger's was not cheap by any means, and we stayed at both a campsite and a hotel room there.

that said, camp site sharing is a good thing, and recommended...

I think the cost/day for camping will be $2-5 more than Rogers. We can still share sites, since they want no more than 4 adults/site. If we don't have anyone from out-of-state visiting, we will share our site with someone.

The sites at Gunstock are much more wooded and varied than Rogers, so you might want to take a look at the places if you live in NH. Smiley There is actual wood to gather and water running through the place. Smiley

And Rogers was only 2 adults per site right?  Or was that only 2 tents?

We have the links to their respective sites, but we'll see what we can do about posting the rates for the hotels.

I think the cost/day for camping will be $2-5 more than Rogers.

2006 Roger's rates are $23-25 (w/ water/electric), Gunstock is $27, so Russell is somewhat correct.

(these are 2007 Gunstock rates, not 2006, as quoted to Rich)

However, Gunstock allows 4 people, while Roger's charged $5 per person extra over 2 (or for more than one tent)
so I think Gunstock is likely cheaper overall for many...

RVs for the week are comparable.  $35 at Roger's, $240 (or $34+ per day) at Gunstock.

When we made our reservations, we also asked about bringing additional people - they quoted us $6 per person per night.  It's not on the website, you have to call for rates.

Just ask for regular guest services, since the camping lady took a week to get back to us.

For some reason, Neal hasn't put them on the website yet.  I'll remind him to do so.

Is anyone planning to camp that might have room for someone else willing to chip in? I'll be flying in so I can't exactly bring much camping gear, beyond perhaps a sleeping back and maybe an inflatable mattress. I'm voluntarily unemployed at the moment so just trying to keep my costs down. Seems like I could save a lot by avoiding a hotel room.

On the other hand, someone willing to split a hotel room would save a good bit also.

EDIT:
*crickets*

Oh dear...
