As Varrin announced in one of his President's Corner missives, I have volunteered to take charge of the First 1000 campaign. I welcome your ideas, and more importantly, your HELP! It's going to take all of our best efforts to reach this goal.

What about a little "direct myspace" advertising? I've done a little tonight. I think I'll work some more on it. But we're not going to get there if we don't do some better recruiting.
Excellent idea, Caleb. Morey has had impressive results in recruiting new FSP participants by campaigning on MySpace. If anyone would like to volunteer to tag libertarians with an F1K-targeted ad, let me know. I've seen several people who say they are moving within a year ... anybody know any way to get a list of people that are seriously talking moving within a year or so, and sending out a targeted email campaign?
Already in the works.

We JUST reached 300. With under 7 months remaining we need at least 100 signers per month to make the goal.
We can do this, but we do need to pick up the pace.
You are absolutely correct, Ian. And I assure you, my every waking hour is consumed with thoughts of how we can do this. I even changed my network password at work to 'First1000', to help keep my priorities straight. Every plug for F1K that you and the rest of the FTL team can squeeze in is much appreciated. FTL continues to be a critical component of the FSP's recruitment strategy.

We are promoting it and FTL will be helpful, but we're really more effective at recruiting interest in the FSP in general. We may be a factor in First1000, but the bulk of the signers will likely come from elsewhere...

My suggestions may be a reiteration of what is on going but I think I can’t hurt to reinforce. For those already in the Great Free State of New Hampshire, don’t forget to stay in constant contact with your libertarian brethren you have left behind. Keep them informed of the huge successes that are taking place.
I believe the best way to do this is with direct contact, either snail mail with hard copy photos or phone calls. We, as libertarians tend to think electronic communications are the magic bullet of political activism (posting this thought on a message board is a delicious irony).
Make your libertarian friends from the states you formerly hailed from jealous. Let them hear the excitement in your voice.

Good suggestions, Scott. I remain active on the NorCal Local Group list and the LPSF list, and on my recent trip back to the Bay Area, I (and two other visiting early movers) crammed an FSP Local Group meeting into my schedule. I think we've got Northern California covered, at any rate. The rest of you guys better get busy with the jealousy inducement.

We now have less than 6 months and need to double the pace of signings to make the goal. Email is free, I think a F1k-specific email should be going out to ALL FSP members and friends once per month at this point, updating them on our progress and encouraging them to sign!
I'm not talking about including another F1k mention in the FSP news where it will be cluttered with other information, I'm talking about an email specifically about F1k.
We've been entirely too silent on this!! Perhaps we should have Jason fashion the email so it can be "An important message from the founder of the FSP"
What do you think? The squeaky wheel gets the oil, so we should be squeaking more via our massive email list about F1k.

Perhaps rather than volunteering Jason to write the email, you can volunteer to do it yourself, Ian.

I talked to Varrin a bit about his thoughts at PF, & he thinks we should do phone calls. We've already sent a mailing, which is more effective than e-mail. Calls are more effective than both. With 10 team leaders, 10 volunteers per team leader, and 20 calls per volunteer, we could get 2200 calls made. (Most people don't give us their phone number, so that would probably cover almost the whole FSP membership.)

I would be willing to make 20 calls for the FSP.

don't know if you know this, but Skype.com (owned by eBay) is offering free calls anywhere in the USA until the end of the year. this could save the FSP some much-needed funds.
