Did you mean to imply that only those who move to where you are can "do something"?  I'm sure that was not what you meant was it?  I mean, no one could be.......I won't say what I want to.  No, I must be having a gross misunderstanding of your words, clear as they may seem.  I will assume the best of you and give you the benefit of the doubt.

Jean, you write very diplomatically.  However, you are not understanding what I am saying.  Not your fault; the onus is on me to convey my message comprehensibly.  So let me be clear.

You can do SQUAT about all the other stuff you think is important.  ZERO.  Doesn't mean it's not important.  'Tis.  But anything you try to do about all these other factors (national apathy, dislike of cold weather, fear of change, disagreement with libertarian philosophy, etc., etc., ad nauseum) means ZILCH.  These factors' importance is irrelevant.  You can do nothing about them.  If you think you can, then you are wrong.  Be realistic.

What you can control is your own actions as a board member to secure a body of real human beings willing to move to New Hampshire and make it libertarian.

  • The more verifiably real those people are,
  • the more clearly delineated the duties of those people are, and
  • the more plausible it is to believe these people to be truly committed

..the easier will be the job to get intelligent people to sign up.

I think I agree with John, although I have no clue how you seperate the wheat from the chaff.  At this point, its guesswork as to how many of the people who signed up are reliable, and how many are just the type who float back and forth between new "ideas", never their mind on WHERE YOU ARE, to paraphrase Yoda.

That's why i think a better way is to just go about doing exciting stuff, and letting people decide for themselves whether they think that is something they want to join.  Sort of an "If you build it, they will come" attitude.

John, if you don't like the way the vote came out, start another project.  Ken Royce did.

True enough, Ward.  Competition does lead to a better product.  I was just offering some free unsolicited advice.  After all, this is the original project.  It's always sad to see things go downhill.

Not to say there's not good going on, too.  I'm always happy to see some social security cards burn and some libertarians getting together having fun and stuff like that.  Well, we've just got to do the best we can, eh?
