Another thing to note is that the Green Party has actually elected someone to the state house in Maine. The Libertarian party can't claim this, at least I don't believe so. Hell, I think the Greens have more elected officials than the Libertarians do now anyway. To top all of that off, the Progressive Congressional Caucus, or whatever they're calling the outright Socialist wing of the Democratic party these days, wields more influence (Nancy Pelosi D-Cal, the most likely candidate to take over as Leader of the Opposition [I know that's not the title, but minority leader sounds trite]) and has more members than the Republican Liberty Caucus (that I could find, I could be wrong, but I doubt it) ever has had.

Hmmm, what was my point. Oh, yes. What I'm trying to say is that the statist left has done a masterful job in a relatively short period of time in developing a locally viable third party that elects more than water board commisioners (although I think the sole elected official in NC is a member of the soil and water commission), but has managed to elect mayors and state reps, and now effectively controls the second largest party in the United States. As to our side....we have Ron Paul and Gary Johnson was term limited. But, we do have Ron Paul.

Joe, you certainly have more experience with this than I do (the only non-school elections I've ever worked on were school board elections, and all my candiates lost). How do you think the Greens have been able to tap into the Democratic vote, whereas the libertarians haven't been able to take the same vote from the GOP, and social libertarians (and I suppose independents as well)?

The Greens tap into the college vote, who are BIG activists (I should know, I'm a college student). Colleges predominantly have a liberal atmosphere, and many kids don't like Republicans because they're the "evil rich man." It doesn't occur to these kids that people who work hard and make good business decisions should be rewarded. The greens are better than Democrats (to these kids) because they are for legalizing marijuana, and promote a 'living wage'. This sounds good to the average college kid. "A higer paying minimum wage? Sign me up!"

Well I would never question the validity of your numbers Joe but I happen to know Hardy Macia personally and he has stated, I believe on one of these threads that he hold one office, Justice of the Peace. Should I believe Hardy or your numbers?
