Best Health Authority

Best Health Authority
This info is from James Sloane who was a doctor for 13 years before getting fed up with corruption and becoming an herbalist. He seems to have more reliable scientific info than other health pros. His main website is http://medcapsules.com . Improving digestion is important as we get older in order to maintain good nutrition. People think heartburn is from too much stomach acid, but that's wrong; it's from too little stomach acid, which leads to yeast fermentation, which produces different acid. I'm trying to be brief with just the most important health info below.

For Weight Loss take [I'm not sure about this, because the iodine in too much coconut oil can cause hyperthyroidism] Coconut Oil each day (& have a low carb, high natural fat diet & not too much protein; but avoid hydrogenated oils, as in cooking oils and shortening & foods made with them).

To prevent Heart Attacks & Strokes by strengthening Blood Vessels take for 2 months daily, and thereafter weekly:
- Amla berries for stable vitamin C (synthetic vitamin C is unstable & deteriorates quickly) at least half hour before a meal (to strengthen adrenal glands and blood vessels);
- Rice bran 1 teaspoon/day or vitamin B complex 100 mg/day with meal (to improve adrenal glands);
- Lecithin granules 1 tablespoon per meal (to remove plaque in blood vessels);
- Magnesium 50 mg/day at least half hour before a meal (to soften plaque);
- Zinc 50 mg/day with meal (to improve digestion & the immune system).

For Candida yeast infection, take for about 2 months:
- Yucca root at least half hour before a meal (to kill Candida);
- Kefir 1/2 cup or so before & after bed (to help restore microflora);
- Rice bran 1 teaspoon/day (to help feed microflora).

For Constipation, take Slippery Elm bark powder.

For Acid Reflux /or/ Indigestion
- Acid reflux in the throat (heartburn) is from yeast fermentation vapors in the stomach going up the esophagus. This is due to LOW stomach acid (HCl) NOT high stomach acid. High stomach acid prevents yeast fermentation & indigestion.
- This info comes from http://medcapsules.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=2632
- In Europe digestive bitters are used for treating heartburn. Since bitters cleanse the liver it is important to drink a lot of water throughout the day when using them.
- Zinc helps since it is a catalyst for the formation of hydrochloric acid for the stomach. The recommended dose is 50mg daily with a larger meal.
- B vitamins are also essential for the formation of stomach acid. It is best to get these from foods such as rice bran, oat bran, watercress, seaweeds, or nutritional yeast. Otherwise a B50 complex twice daily with meals can be used.
- Trimethylglycine (TMG) can also be used to increase stomach acid formation. TMG is a strong methyl donor. Methylation is required for the production of many substances in the body including stomach acid, neurotransmitters, hormones, etc.
- To get silica, put a tablespoon or more of diatomaceous earth in a quart or more of water. Pour about a cup of water from the top each day to drink.
- Vinegar, kefir, citric acid (as in citrus fruits etc), or other food acids are good with protein meals to help digestion.
- Avoid caffeine, nicotine and mints.
- Avoid antacids, acid blockers also known as proton pump inhibitors, alkaline waters, calcium carbonate (coral, oyster shell, dolomite), calcium oxide/hydroxide (lime) and magnesium oxide/hydroxide (milk of magnesia), because they neutralize stomach acid, which allows bacteria and yeast to colonize the stomach lining, which can cause ulcers etc.

For Cancer, take Chapparal and Pao d'Arco etc. There are details on his site, which includes a bunch more herbs too. Also see link in OP above.

For Bone Problems, take Bamboo, also called Zhu Ru (for silica), Nettle leaf (for usable vitamin C), & Gelatin (for natural glucosamine & chondroitin); Diatomaceous Earth in Water (alternative source of silica): put a teaspoon or so of food grade D.E. in about a gallon of water, let it settle to the bottom, drink a cup or so at a time from the top and refill with plain water each time, the silica dissolves throughout the water and the D.E. at the bottom will last several months.

http://www.curezone.org/forums/am.asp?i=1455025
http://www.curezone.org/forums/am.asp?i=1447233

For Pain, use Arnica cream topically, or take Magnesium malate regularly, or take Licorice root, Yucca root, Ashwagandha, Kudzu root, or Fish oil; for immediate relief take Passion flower, Kava, Catnip, Scullcap, or Wood betony
Avoid NSAIDs, including Ibuprofen, because they restrict blood flow and can cause organ failure.

I don't recommend raw eggs - unless maybe they are from your personal chicken.

AVOID MOST PROCESSED FOODS (because of: high glycemic index that causes high blood sugar, diabetes, rapid aging etc; excitotoxins that cause nerve problems & senility; GMO ingredients that cause Morgellon's and nutrition problems; toxic additives & processing that cause cancer etc; packaging that causes environmental problems; and supporting corrupt big businesses)
AVOID MOST SOY FOODS (except Miso & Tempeh, as most soy causes serious hormone problems)
AVOID MOST FISH (except Sardines & Arctic Salmon, as most fish has too much heavy metals)
AVOID SEAFOOD & PORK & UNNATURAL OILS (because of heavy metals or toxicity)
AVOID NON-ORGANIC WHEAT, CORN, OR SOY PRODUCTS (because of GMOs & nutrition problems)
AVOID TOMATO PASTE & CATSUP (because of excitotoxins that cause nerve problems & senility)

Avoid eating anything at all because there might be bad things in them.

The naturally occurring amounts of poisons in spinach and broccoli (and many other vegetables) would preclude them from passing FDA standards if they were "manufactured".

If you eat, you're gonna die.

If you don't eat, you'll probably die sooner.

AAAS devoted an issue of Science magazine to this some years back.

There was a sub-group of macrobiotics devotees that called themselves "breatharians" or "breathetarians" or some such.  They claimed that you only need air to survive.  I believe they are all dead now.

I think I'll stick with my hard-core "Eat-Whatever-I-Like-The-Taste-Of" diet.

NH Food Sources
« Reply #9 on: April 12, 2009, 07:09:26 pm »

Buy Food Locally
* Buy food from local farmers and gardeners, instead of the chain stores.
* I just listed sources of good food in NH at http://nhc.lefora.com/2009/04/13/nh-food-sources/page1.
* More detailed info can be found at http://www.eatwellguide.org/search/summary.
* Any farmers and gardeners among us should advertise there. I think it's free.

Change Health Attitudes
* Typical attitudes about health and pleasure are largely molded by the major media and the dominant education system, just like attitudes about government are molded.  Relying on conventional science and medicine for health information is like relying on the major media for truth about politics etc.
* Good mechanics know how to take care of a vehicle and how to find small problems before they become big ones, so the vehicle lasts a long time and the owner can get the maximum utility and enjoyment from it. A good alternative doctor or health expert likewise knows how to take care of our bodies, so they last a long time and provide maximum enjoyment for us.
* People want to get maximum enjoyment out of life, but, having their attitudes shaped by conventional society, their understanding of how to obtain such enjoyment is short-sighted. The system doesn't bother to educate us about how to have behavioral and mental discipline, how to set goals, make plans and get help to achieve goals, etc.
* People don't usually realize that what we find enjoyable can change in an enjoyable way. Changing our political perspective from naive to informed can be enjoyable. Changing our lifestyles, including diet, from naive to informed can be enjoyable. Natural foods can taste more enjoyable with natural flavor enhancers, than mass-produced processed foods with toxic additives. Processing itself makes many nutrients toxic. And don't be fooled by the term "natural flavoring" in processed foods; they're actually excitotoxins, similar to MSG, which stimulate nerves to death and tend to cause senility.
* Buying our food from local farmers and gardeners is better for us and our economy than buying from the chain stores, which are part of fascist-controlled agribusiness.
* The media, including science media, slant the truth about health findings. Do a search on "drug" at http://mercola.com and you'll find loads of articles about how drug company sponsored health studies slant the truth. The major drug companies and food giants hire spin experts, who can make trivial amounts of toxins in natural foods seem worse than the huge percentage of toxicity of processed foods.
* Here's an example of the kind of info you won't find in the major media.

GOOD & BAD FATS/OILS
The following information comes mostly from Mary Enig's article, Oiling of America, which includes references for the numbers below, at
http://www.westonaprice.org/knowyourfats/oiling.html
and http://www.drcranton.com/nutrition/oiling.htm.
- Natural cholesterol and saturated fats are good fats. Hydrogenated oils and rancid oils/fats are bad fats.
BAD FATS - HYDROGENATED OILS [in COOKING OILS] etc
- Most transfats are from partly hydrogenated vegetable oils, vegetable shortening and margarine, found in many processed foods. Natural transfats as in dairy are good. Hexane, one of the main hydrocarbons in gasoline, is used to make hydrogenated oil. When these hydrogenated oil products first came out, doctors were concerned that they might lead to heart disease and cancer. These concerns were confirmed by research. Other problems have also been confirmed, though the media ignore these findings, due to food industry pressure. Following are confirmed problems caused by processed transfat consumption along with source references.
- Hydrogenated oil does the following:
Reduces milk supply in breastfeeding women – 44.
Increases diabetes – 44.
Increases osteoporosis [brittle bones] – 45.
Lowers testosterone [mostly male hormone] – 45.
Lowers normal sperm count [making men infertile] – 45.
Changes gestation [fetal development] – 45.
Lowers birth weight – 46.
Lowers prostaglandins [hormone-like nutrients for muscle and blood vessel control] – 47.
Increases heart disease – 48, 53.
Increases breast cancer – 49.
Increases coronary heart disease [especially from margarine] – 50.
Fat in deep fried foods is up to 50% transfat – 51.
Increases cancer [from margarine & vegetable shortening] – 52.
Average consumption is at least 12 grams per day.
4 donuts or 6 cookies contain 30 grams.
One 10 oz. Bag of chips contains 46 grams.

GOOD FATS - SATURATED FAT
Following are listed the benefits of saturated fats in the diet,
i.e. tallow [beef fat], lard [pork fat], butter, palm oil, coconut oil, meat [if not subjected to high heat], etc:
Improves immune system – 54.
Improves bones – 55.
Increases cell energy & improves cell structure – 56.
Protects the liver – 57.
Helps utilize essential fatty acids – 58.
Reduces need for cholesterol – 59.
Improves the heart – 59.
Does not irritate artery walls.
Reduces need for stored anti-oxidants.
Helps prevent cancer.

GOOD FATS - NATURAL CHOLESTEROL
Following are some of the benefits of natural cholesterol:
Makes hormones that reduce stress.
Makes hormones that protect from heart disease and cancer.
Makes sex hormones for fertility and emotional balance.
Makes vitamin D for bones, nervous system, growth, mineral metabolism, muscle tone, insulin, reproduction, immune system, bile salts for digestion of fat.
Is an anti-oxidant to protect tissues from damage to prevent heart disease and cancer.
Is a repair substance for arteries - 60.
Increases serotonin in brain to make good feelings.
Reduces aggression, violence, depression, suicidal tendencies.
Cholesterol in breast milk greatly improves infants' brain development – 61.
Repairs intestinal walls.
Vegetarians tend to get leaky gut syndrome and other problems without cholesterol from animal products.
Shortage of fat and cholesterol in the diet produces nocturnal habits, fantasies, fetishes, bingeing, splurging, etc – 62.

(An important point not mentioned above is that natural fats contain a lot of fat-soluble vitamins, which are entirely lacking in hydrogenated oils, such as cooking oil, margarine and vegetable shortening. Also worth mentioning is Paul Stitt's claim in Fighting the Food Giants, that major food companies deplete foods of nutrients intentionally, because this causes the brain to crave more food. Stitt was a research biochemist for one such food giant.)

I happily buy from wherever I want to buy whether it's "local" or "chain". What about a local chain? Or is that "bad"? Sorry, I used to be like this years ago, constantly worrying about various things I eat. This or that causing this or that. "Don't eat non-organic vegetables because they could contain POISONOUS chemicals". I don't agree with a lot of big agribusiness being government whores, hell that's the same way most big companies are.
 We still love to shop at Wal-Mart, Hannafords and Stop & Shop for our big food buys and smaller places for specific needs sometimes.
 Point being I'm not buying into this mindset that everything out there is poisoned if it's not organic, small farm produce. Nor this idea that you have to eat certain foods to be healthy.

New Food Co-op Meeting in Concord, Wed, Apr 22
« Reply #14 on: April 22, 2009, 09:53:22 am »

New Food Coop
    ==================================================================
    New Co-op - Organizing Meeting - Wednesday, 22 April 2009 - 6:30 PM
    ==================================================================

    Why would anyone want to join and work together in a co-op? This is a little quote from James Howard Kuntsler, from The Long emergency, 2005:

    Several concerned and budget-conscious New-Hampshire folks have stated interest in forming a co-operative buying club to get the best prices on
    the products they buy by pooling their orders and buying in bulk. We've gathered up a list of about 100 people so far and we know there are more
    that would be interested. We can easily get started as a food-buying co-op, but the possibilities are there to also pool our purchasing power
    for fuels, electricity, phone service, and many other of our basic regular purchases.

    We're pulling this effort together into a first organizing meeting to be held in Concord on Wednesday, 22 April, 2009, 6:30 in the evening:

    When: Wednesday, 22 April 2009, 6:30 PM (18:30)

    Where:
    Liberty Books
    75 Allison Street
    Concord, New-Hampshire
    tel: 223-0335

    Jim Dodson has graciously offered his bookstore as a meeting place and wants to become a member, too.

    We want to hear your ideas, especially of what you would like to buy together and where you think would be the best sources for the things you
    think we could buy together. You can write to us at our temporary email address: co-op@AltExpo.org.

    There are many issues that would have to be settled and Rome wasn't built in a day, so we'd have to agree on a basic starting point. The goal of the
    meeting is to see if there is a core of people who can reach a resolution to begin this thing and take it past the discussion phase.

    For basic reference information, see the temporary website for the group at: http://AltExpo.org/co-op. New information will be uploaded there as it
    happens. A proposed agenda will be uploaded there in the coming days and we will email it to those who are interested in attending this meeting.

    Please bring snacks, beverages and samples of products you think we should be able to buy as a group.

    Best regards and I hope to see you there Wednesday, If you cannot attend, but wish to be kept on the list, even just out of curiosity, please let us
    know by emailing to co-op@AltExpo.org.

    regards,

    Jack Shimek

    WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?
    Richard Hayes Phillips, Citizen
    September 30, 2006
We must make ends meet by reducing expenses, not by increasing our income.
We must volunteer our services to each other in cooperative ventures whenever possible.
We must engage in the barter system whenever possible.
We must become as self-reliant as possible.
We must boycott the corporations that have aligned themselves with this government, and support local merchants instead.
I have done these things, and so can you.
Above all, we must stop preaching to the choir.
We will not restore the republic by communicating with each other about trivial observations over the heavily monitored Internet.
We must learn to use pen, paper, envelopes and stamps to communicate about matters of grave concern among trusted compatriots on a need to know basis.
We must win this battle one convert at a time, by getting to know our neighbors.
