(Family business owner was called supposedly by the IRS claiming they owed 3,000 from 13 years ago, whereas business owners are told they only need to keep records for ten years. So naturally they had no proof that they didn't owe.)
I just checked online for IRS scams and I see there have been many scams by phone and email all over the country, but I don't know if X were contacted by phone or by regular mail. If it was by mail, I suppose it was truly from the IRS. So I'll ask to see how the threat was received.
They ended up paying the 3,000, but I don't think they asked for the evidence.

Oops. I should've found a different thread for this, but anyway.
I noticed last night that Craisglist got hacked. Has anyone heard by whom?
