"Sustaining Support Software Engineer"
This team member will work on supporting our Product Line developed by our Custom Solutions development team. The individual's responsibilities will include working closely with the support team in reproducing field issues, isolating and fixing problems, with the goal of increasing customer satisfaction. Some feature enhancements of the existing code base will also be required. He/She will need to collaborate with engineering, and needs to be willing to work late hours if needed for critical problem resolution. The candidate will also need to be able to participate in customer support calls as someone who has deeper knowledge of the Custom Solutions. As a part of our commitment to TL9000, we need to provide turn-around time of 24 hours for critical defects irrespective of the day of the week. The person in this position should be able to assist in resolving critical defects after work hours or during weekend, if required. The candidate must be a skilled software engineer able to contribute in our real time multitasking system environment. Experience with Web UI development and relational databases highly desirable. Must be a team player who likes challenging problems and should thrive in a small team environment. Communication skills and effective collaboration are of paramount importance.
A minimum of 5 years software development experience, should have a BSCS or equivalent degree and should have the following skillset:
Knowledge of ExtJS is preferable, but not a must
Strong Perl development skills
Experience with relational database (preferably Oracle SQL)
Understand, bug-fix and extend the existing code base
Familiarity with networking protocols and real time systems development concepts is required
Strong people and communication skills including experience with customers
Strong software debugging skills. You will be expected to work under pressure to deliver high quality fixes to operational customers. The fixes must be reliable and perform well. You will be required to document root cause analysis and be process oriented. Must have the ability to work independently and be self-directed. Will require a can-do attitude to get things done.
Authorization to work in the US.
Travel minimal (<10%) to India, Canada, and potentially customer sites.
